Camp Directors

Hindu Heritage Summer Camp, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of New York. In addition to the annual summer camp, the organization conducts monthly day camps in Rochester.

 

1st Session | 2nd Session

  Camp Director Anupam Reddy
Director
Anupam has been a part of camp since the summer of 2000. He was a camper for one year and later went on to become a counselor for two years, head counselor, and was staff coordinator last year. Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, he is in his second year at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, where he is majoring in International Business with a minor in French. He feels privileged to be director of camp this year because he has the chance to give back to the place that has had such a big impact on his life. Culture and religion have always been important to him and he is excited to have the opportunity to continue teaching others. He loves camp and cannot wait to lead this group of talented individuals.
Camp Director Pooja Bhardwaj
Assistant Director
Pooja has been coming to HHSC since 2003. She spent four years as a camper, and became a counselor in 2007. She was head counselor for a year, and staff coordinator last year before progressing to her current role as Assistant Director. While her home is in Long Island, NY, she is currently completing her second year at New York University Leonard Stern School of Business. There, she plans to pursue degrees in Finance and Social Entrepreneurship. She loves to dance, everything from hip hop, to Bollywood, to Bhangra. Throughout her years here, her interest in spirituality has been greatly augmented. Pooja feels like camp is truly her second home and is so thrilled to be part of the staff of directors this year. She has a lot to contribute and is looking forward to getting started!
Camp Director Arjun Kaushal
Assistant Director
Arjun started coming to camp in 2003 and has spent time as a camper, counselor, head counselor, and is now returning as Assistant Director. Arjun is currently attending Rutgers University where he is working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering. He has a lot of pride in his culture and is a member of the Rutgers Bhangra team. Camp has played a significant role in his life nothing has compared to the positive experience he has had there. He really wants to continue the traditions he has learned at the HHSC. Arjun has so many visions for camp and is excited to make this year at camp the best year yet for all of the campers!

 

2nd Session | 1st Session

Camp Director Neha Venugopal
Director
Neha has been attending camp since 1997. She has been a camper, a member of KYS, counselor, head counselor, and staff coordinator. This will be her first year as Director. She is currently a junior at the College of Saint Elizabeth with an Elementary Ed./Psych. degree with a concentration in Special Education. She is above and beyond excited to be directing this year being that it has always been her dream to do so. She would love to give back to the camp that molded her so wonderfully as well as give the campers that very same experience she had at this camp 13 years ago.
Camp Director Ashish Heda
Assistant Director
Ashish has been coming to camp since the very beginning of Second Session in 2003. He has been a camper, KYS member, counselor, head counselor and is now for the first time, an assistant director. He is currently a senior at Stanton College Preparatory High School in Florida. HHSC has given Ashish a platform on which to learn about everything in life, ranging from Puja and Hindu philosophy to dance, music and arts and crafts. He hopes to instill the same knowledge and joy to the next group of campers and cannot wait for Second Session 2010.
Camp Director Sonia Taneja
Assistant Director
Sonia has been coming to camp since 2005. She was a camper for three years, a counselor for one year, and a head counselor for one year. This is Sonia’s first year as assistant director. Sonia is currently a freshman at Yale University and hopes to major in Biology and South Asian Studies. Sonia cannot thank everyone who has been a part of HHSC in these last six years enough for making her experiences unforgettable and a big part of who she is. Sonia is extremely excited to be working with such a great staff this year and cannot wait to get to know this year’s campers and make them a part of the HHSC family!
