Camp Directors

Hindu Heritage Summer Camp, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of New York. In addition to the annual summer camp, the organization conducts monthly day camps in Rochester.

 

1st Session | 2nd Session

Camp Director Sonali Shah
Camp Director

Sonali has been coming to camp since 1999. She has been a camper for two years, a counselor for one year, a head counselor for one year, and a staff coordinator for one year. Sonali is from Massena, NY and is currently a freshman at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She is majoring in Biology and is in the 8 Year Guaranteed Medical Program. This is Sonali's first year as Director of HHSC.
Assistant Director Ketan Agashi
Assistant Director

Ketan has been coming to camp since 2006. He started camp as a counselor, and last year he was a head counselor. Ketan lives in Dublin, Ohio and plans to attend college this fall. He plans to major in biology and minor in business. Ketan has been so excited about camp ever since he started going, and can't wait to hold his new position as assistant director this year. Ketan is very thankful being given the opportunity to hold such a position and hopes to make a lasting impression on all the campers.
Assistant Director Puja Sood
Assistant Director

Puja was head counselor her first year before progressing to her current role as a staff member. While her home is in Maryland, she is in her third year at University of Rochester where she plans to pursue a career in medicine. She loves to read and dances everything from Bollywood to Bhangra. From the first time she set foot into camp, she has felt at home. Culture and religion have been two essential components of her life and camp has allowed her to explore each more thoroughly. She has great respect and love for camp and hopes to help maintain the high standards of education and awareness HHSC provides.

Camp Director Sheel Mehta
Camp Director

Sheel has been coming to camp since 2003. He has gone through the ranks of camper for one year, counselor for two years, head counselor for one year, and was an assistant director in 2007. He is currently a sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia and will be majoring in Biology. He believes that the camp helped him discover his true cultural and religious identity as well as helped him develop leadership qualities. Sheel is very eager to work with young campers and make the camp a real fun filled growing experience for all.
Assistant Director Anuja Oak
Assistant Director

Anuja has been coming to camp since 2005. She was counselor her first year and head counselor for the next two years. She is originally from Watertown, Connecticut and is currently a sophomore at the University of Maryland, where she is active in the Hindu Student Council and the bhangra team. She is honored to be working with such a great staff and hopes to bring as much to camp as it has brought to her.
Assistant Director Vishal Dahya
Assistant Director

Vishal has been coming to camp since 2001 and has been a camper for three years, a counselor for one year, and was a head counselor last year. This is his first year as assistant director. He is currently a freshman at University of South Florida majoring in Biomedical Sciences. Vishal is very thankful for HHSC because he deems it as being a huge factor in the development of his religious and personal identity.
